Club Safety
Safety is paramount. No member should participate in a Club run unless he or she is satisfied that they are fit enough to do so. If in doubt, obtain medical advice from your doctor before joining a run. You will not be running with anyone trained by the Club to provide medical assistance or give medical advice.

Members must observe the rules of the road at all times and must do nothing that compromises the safety of themselves, other members or third parties. For example, wherever possible run on pavements rather than the road, if you have to run on the road run against the traffic and give way to all road traffic. Wear reflective clothing if it will get dark during the run. Do not wear headsets when you are running.

Members should, whenever possible, run in groups of similar ability and with similar objectives. Members of a group should generally seek to stay together for the duration of the run. In the event of a member incurring an injury, every effort should be made to accompany the member back to the Club or secure medical treatment as appropriate. Members who voluntarily decide to leave a group during a run understand that there will be no-one to assist them should they suffer an injury or otherwise have any difficulties.

Women in particular should be aware of the dangers of running alone. If you do, make sure you don’t wear jewellery, don’t stop to give directions to strangers and do not run in isolated areas. Use your common sense, be risk aware. Carry a mobile phone if you can.

Finally, members should, as a matter of routine write their name and a contact number inside their running shoes.
